The third key is purpose. Why are we here? The single thought that I arrived at is we are responsible for becoming who we are born to be. This appears to be a heavy burden, but if not us then who is responsible?

As I reflect on high school days, I remembered vividly the categories or the clicks that people associated themselves with. There were the athletes, those young lions with superb bodies and popularity on steroids. If you were a football player, basketball, track and field athlete you were a living god. Girls swoon when you walked down the hall and guys wanted to be you. Then there were the cheerleaders, girls with the perfect smiles, sweet as apple pie and usually great students. The list goes on and on, the stoners, activists , student body presidents and of course the honor roll students.

Then there were the nerds. For me the nerds were the most interesting people. They appeared to always be one step behind the so called cool kids. They had a different language and a way of being. Nerds rarely cared about the latest styles and the way they looked. If you can remember a huge part of adolescence is seeking everyone's perception and everyone's approval of who you are. I think to date it 's one of the most difficult stages of life.

What the so call nerds did care about was their interest, their passion normally and obsessively they pursued it without caring if everyone approved. People didn't really pay attention to the nerds, they weren't cool enough.

But as life would have it, life reverses in time, the cool kids sometimes get cooler, but normally settle down into a average life. It's the nerds who become the new "cool" they become the innovators, artist, multi-millionaires in industries, giants in technology, a lot of them become successful business men and women. It's really amazing, and a type of poetic justice, life flips!

When you find your purpose usually by life experiences, challenges, tragedies and opening up your heart, your life becomes more than just existing, and doing the day to day thing. Life becomes focused, you are fueled with this tireless energy to get things done, it becomes your joyful obsession. It's infectious too you can inspire and influence others to discover their passion as well. Focusing on your purpose changes the trajectory of your life. It feels like when you're aiming at a target with an bow and arrow. You pull that bow with all of your might and release that arrow and you hit the bull's eye!

Knowing the reason you are born is powerful stuff. You begin to align your life, with meaningful activity. The single reason for purpose is to be effective in your generation, to make contributions that impact the lives of others, to become change agents a light force to reckon with!
