Gratitude is not a new concept actually it's really as old as time. Expressing heart felt thank you for the kindness that you receive at any given time is a valuable human quality. Gratitude is always appropriate and sometimes obvious.

When someone gives you something such as a gift, money something tangible we automatically say thank you. We also say thank you if someone does a kind gesture for us such as co-worker getting us a cup a coffee when they get a cup or like when I'm walking into my gym someone waits and hold the door open for me. These are example of times of expressing thank you.

A deeper expression of gratitude is being conscious of things we take for granted like breathing, try and live without it, right! Every breath we take keeps us alive. I have a friend that told me she was taking a shower one day and she became exceedingly grateful for every drop of water that was pulsating and dropping on her skin. She said in that moment she realized that there are people in the world who cannot turn on a faucet and water pours out. In some places fresh clean water is scarce.

Time is a huge luxury. It's one straight line and it never stops it's a continuum. Our life span consist of seconds, minutes, hours, days months and years. We have this precious commodity to make amazing contributions to others, but we also have these great moments with people we love. It's such a powerful gift! When people mention killing time or when we waste time, no matter what we can never ever get it back.

There are systems simultaneously working on our behalf 24/7 that sometimes we don't acknowledge such as the alignment of the universe, men and women who protect our country, cities farmers who grow our food.

Being grateful is a state of mind it's a practice in humility , grace and respect for life. You can say it out loud but even when you don't say it just think of those two simple words, thank you.
