When we think about our best friend all kind of images pop up into our minds!

We think about the time we've spent with this special person, the love that has been poured into them. Also the love that has been poured into us from them. We reflect on memories of crazy things we've done together and the great laughs we've shared. We also think of the heart breaks, the tears when it was just hard to breathe. That special person was there soothing our aches, and in turn we soothed our friend's hurts. Our best friends are on our life journey with us it would be hard to imagine life with out them!

A best friend is invaluable in fact, it has been said if you have a best friend you don't need a therapist! Some best friend relationships have lasted longer than marriages. Best friend is a powerful union that allows us to grow and become!

I have been fortunate to have best friends that have span decades, these people are invaluable to my well being.

In my life journey I am also experiencing how to be my own best friend. The kindness , patience, the support that I lavish on my friends I'm learning how to give that love to myself. I am learning the power of patience, and forgiveness when I feel frustrated or unloving. I am learning beautiful self talk, when negative words float into my brain I replace them with kind words, wise words, gentle words.

I also reward myself, give myself flowers, gifts, down time and indulgence time. The indulgent times are wonderful without guilt. I love to binge on movies, chocolate and wine without beating myself up about calories. If I've had a self indulgent moment, I just continue my healthy living habits, of eating nutritional foods, exercise, prayer and meditation.

When I do gain weight I am still the gracious, intelligent, kind and wonderful woman that I work so hard at being. I am more than my weight, my spirit and consciousness to live a life of joy and purpose is the real beauty.

The practice of becoming your own best friend is priceless, endless and empowering. There are days when you will just giggle at the comfort of being in your own skin and loving it!
